“I believe that science is the most thrilling adventure of humankind, and that ‘The Science Bridge’ can promote peace and mutual understanding by uniting us in the shared exploration of our universe and ourselves.”

Sebstian Seung is Professor of Computational Neuroscience at Princeton University. He received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Harvard University, and later worked at Bell Laboratories. Formally, he was in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences and the Department of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His interdisciplinary research has spanned the fields of physics, computer science, and neuroscience. His laboratory at MIT is inventing technologies for finding the connectome, which is the totality of connections between the brain’s neurons, and is analogous to the genome of the mind. His book Connectome: ‘How the Brain’s Wiring Makes Us Who We Are’ will be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in February 2012.
